HOST 2 Ltd entered into a total waste management contract with waste company Viridor in June 2018.
The Campuses provide 1500 bedrooms for the HPC workers and aligning with the main site target of ‘zero waste to landfill’ has been an important commitment for both Viridor and HOST 2 Ltd. We are pleased therefore to announce that on 21st January 2019, the target of ‘zero waste to landfill’ was achieved.
HOST 2 Ltd has a desire to value the waste hierarchy of reduce, reuse and recycle with a keen interest in maximising all recycling opportunities. We want to treat waste as a resource, rather than rubbish.
Once collected from the Campuses, recyclable materials are sent to Viridor’s Priorswood Material Recycling Facility, Sheffield’s Glass Plant, and food waste is being delivered to the Walpole Anaerobic Digestion facility.
Kevin McCarthy, Chairman of HOST 2 Ltd said he was ‘thrilled that the campuses had been able to mark the achievement so early into the contract, and that HOST 2 Ltd would be working closely with Viridor to continue educating both the campus teams and their guests’.
