Assistant Human Resources Manager

• The Assistant Human Resources Manager reports to the HR Manager of HOST 2 Ltd and is accountable for the management and administrative elements of the full Team Member life cycle including the impeccable management of Team Member records
• For clarification this is Resourcing; Onboarding; Induction; Relations (with Team Members and any recognised union); Reward (compensation & benefits), Training (development); Appraisal and Performance Management System; Restructuring (including redundancy) and Labour Turnover (including management of exit interview process)
• Knowledgeable in employment law and practiced in employee relations, assists managing the department and contributes thoughtfully to the successful running of the campuses, and the satisfaction of those who work in it, consistent with that success
• Provide clear, concise and accurate Employee relations guidance to the Management team
• Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all key stakeholders e.g. EDF/NNB, EAU, Trades Unions, and other relevant bodies; inclusive of attendance at relevant meetings
• Create and sustain a work environment that embraces the company vision, mission and values and ensures fair, equitable treatment of all staff
• Focus on the HOST brand essence – “A good night’s sleep means a good day’s work” in a Zero Harm environment through the guest centric touch points
• Ensures that all new Team Members are recruited and inducted to the requirements of the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Helps maintain up to date Job Descriptions ensuring all competency requirements (Essential & Desirable) are recorded and measured in the Resourcing process
• Against the requirement of the relevant SOP assists the HR Manager in ensuring that all one to ones are carried out and recorded by the due date
• Works with the HR Manager and colleagues at all levels to help see to the preparation and running of the properties’ Personal Development Plans (PDP’s) and initiates and runs standard training programmes
• Assists the HR Manager in all People Audits including the Competency & Qualifications Audit conducted regularly by the client (NNB)
• The Assistant Human Resources Manager participates as a member of the ManCom in all matters pertaining to the operations of the Company
• Behaves in ways that are aligned to HOST values – working closely with Team Managers, Team Leaders, fostering a culture of strong, positive work relationships
• Updates colleagues and committee/s with any employee relations concerns and interests
• Working with colleagues at all levels to deliver a consistent level of quality service

Qualifications for the job:
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role preferably in hospitality
• Experienced and competent in working in a similar scale facility – turnover, headcount, multi-site, unionised environment
• Must be qualified to CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development) level 5.
• Must be an inspiring leader
• Must be both strategic and “hands on operational” in their over-all approach as business need dictates
• Must be an intuitive communicator
• Must be an enabler
• Must take accountability and believe ‘the buck stops at my desk

Duties & responsibilities:
• Create and sustain a work environment that embraces the company’s vision, mission and values and will work to embed HOST values into the business, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all team members
• You will assist the Human Resources manager design, maintain and develop human resources policies & procedures, employee handbook and code of conduct; oversee the implementation and continuous management thereof together with improvements that may be achieved
• You will assist the HR Manager in preparing all the relevant HR information for any monthly reports work with Fourth to produce and maintain up to date and accurate statistics on Headcount, Turnover, Sickness, Absenteeism and Vacation
• You will assist the Human Resources Manager in the administration of the compensation & benefits program for all team members Focus on maintaining the basic requirements of the HR function e.g. maintenance of the team member files and the various HOST programmes e.g. people meetings. Disciplinary and grievance situations, Diversity and inclusion
• You will develop together with the Training Manager an over-all training and development plan by providing relevant and pertinent information collated from the 1:1 meetings and appraisal system
• Work with the Financial Controller to ensure the accounts literacy of those named by the Operations Director, in particular attending to new staff, and to updating as needed
• You will assist in the recommendation and approval of the employment of all Team Members of the Campus
